Made it back home safe and sound last night. Erika and I had so much fun in San Francisco this last weekend! We will start with the yarn-hording!
First off - Erika brought the yarn she ordered for me from Mystical Creations:
#1 - Mohair that turned out to be more purple than blue (darn computer screens!)
That's okay, I will use it for something else - and yes, I already know what for! The Curlicue Ruffle Scarf from Stitch Diva!
Our first stop on our yarn adventures was to the TKGA Market in Oakland. Erika fell in love with Habu and we both spent quite a bit of time perusing Stitch Diva and Newton's Yarn Country. Interlacements was supposed to be there, they had a booth sign and everything but they weren't there! That was a complete bummer. Not only that but, since Kris and I attended Stitches West in February, and were completely spoiled by it, this market was significantly smaller. But that was okay, it did not require a return trip later in the weekend considering we were staying in San Francisco and not Oakland. Here is what I picked up:
Habu - Erika and I bought the same thing:
And the scarf patterns from Stitch Diva:
The next day (Saturday) we made a stop to ArtFibers. I stopped by there during a visit to SF last year with Andy, but didn't spend nearly as much time or money there as I did this time! I. Love. This. Store. The yarns are so interesting and fun! And the people working there were so nice and helpful! The store has something they call a "yarn lounge" where you can grab a sample of a yarn you like and swatch it to see if it will work for what you want. AND they have a computer program where they can enter your swatch gauge and design (or in my case, re-design) a pattern for a yarn you want to use! It was awesome! Erika and I were there for some three hours trying to decide what to get and what to use it for. I had IK's Greek Pullover re-designed from my swatch of this:
100% golden tussah silk called 'Golden Chai' - it is lovely!
I also grabbed these for a super-secret project:
As if that was not enough, we decided that we needed to go back to the store before our departure yesterday! With other projects in mind I got this:
If you are ever in the SF area, a stop by ArtFibers is a must!
That's the yarn update - More on the trip later....
