The dilemma of not having enough fabric for an entire yoke was solved! I did a bit of stash diving and found some off-white denim that worked perfectly :)

Pattern: New Look 6511, View A
Fabric: Two and a third yards of corduroy fabric in what I consider a "winter white" color. It was on sale at Joann's for $2.99/yard. The fabric for the yoke facing came from the stash - I've had it for so long I'm going to say it was free :)
Alterations: The major alteration was the addition of an entire yoke facing. The pattern called for a twill tape waist band, but I wasn't too keen on that.
I serge finished all the edges before construction and also brought in both of the side seams by an extra one-quarter of an inch, for a total side seam of 7/8".
Cost: Main fabric - $6.98. Facing fabric - "free". New Look Pattern - $3.99. Thread came from the stash. Total - $10.97!
Impressions: Oh my gosh - I just lovelovelove this skirt! The pattern lines are really cute, the topstitching along the seam lines gives it a professional look, and the flow of the corduroy fabric during wear is lovely.
The only additional change I would make would be to make the next smaller size down. Even after bringing in the side seams for a total of a half an inch, the skirt still has a bit more ease than to my liking. I have some dark grey corduroy fabric I just recently purchased... I think I'm going to make another one!!
And I'm sure you want to see the modeled shot with the embroidered jacket, right??

What a perfect fall / winter outfit! Now to get busy on that grey one... maybe after Christmas :)
P.S. I'm going to extend the contest below by a day... Thursday, December 7th @ 6PM is your last chance to give a guess :)
I love the finished outfit.
