This last Saturday was another trip fun-filled, fantastic trip to the Los Angeles Fashion District! This time around, Cora came too, and lots of wonderful fabric was found! I think we've decided that we'll be saving our fabric-buying dollars by not spending at a certain big-box store (pattern and notion sales excluded), and plan a quarterly trip to the Fashion District instead :)
We hit Michael Levine's first, had lunch, then it was off to the Levine's Loft, followed by a new stop - Mike's Fabrics (821 Wall St.). We all know how much I *love* Levine's and the Loft, so let's talk about Mike's.
Mike's is definitely much much smaller than both Levine's locations, but they do carry a good quality fabric (no notions or patterns, just fabric). There is no high-pressure selling whatsoever, which is a huge plus. The majority of the smaller places have guys calling to you to buy fabric and have a minimum cut requirement. Mike's does not. The woman that was assisting us was helpful and funny, in her own right. We might be adding Mike's to the future quarterly trip agendas, but it will all be about timing and how much of it we have when we go again, because I just love Levine's :)
Here is my lot, in slide show format once again. A couple that are at the top of my list as favorites (if I were to pick favorites, because I love all of it!) are the "duck duck goose" quilting fabrics, the two wool blends, and the knit fabric from Mike's Fabrics - it feels like butter!
Can't wait to go again. November anyone??
