Now I'm making some progress on knitting!
And after seeing
mimsie's, I just had to have one.
So, I started my
Shalom Cardigan fifteen days ago, and I'm seven inches from finishing the body, then it is on to the sleeves. I think a few more evenings and this one will be done. I am loving the larger gauge yarn on larger needles...
There was a bit of math in the beginning as I had to do some major upsizing
(the original was based on 34" bust). After spending a couple of evenings reviewing others on Ravelry with calculator in hand, I had a re-written pattern planned. And it seems to me that, at this point, the math will work out.
I'm using a yarn that I picked up while shopping with my mom at The Black Sheep. It is
SO unlike me to go the all-acrylic route
(I guess I'm a bit of a yarn snob?), but I couldn't pass this one up. The yarn is James C. Brett
Marble Chunky, and is quite the bargain - 340 yards for like $12. Did I mention that it is soft?! Crazy soft. And machine washable
(a big plus with a seven month old!). And variegated. At this point, I'm loving the yarn. If it holds up the the wearing test I may have to add more of it to the stash. Some acrylic has come a long way!
